Ace Journalist Kwesi Pratt says the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) is not an independent body and it very disturbing when the commission claim so.

According to the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, every government instituted boy is subject to the sovereign of the country’s constitution.

“I get really sick when we are told that the Constitution says the Electoral Commission is an independent body so they can do as they please. They cannot do as they please. They’ve been employed and are paid for by the Ghanaian taxpayer to do what the people of Ghana want. We’ve have not surrendered our sovereignty to the Electoral Commission. Indeed there is no institution in Ghana which is not subjected to sovereign will of the people. Not the Presidency, not the Judiciary, not parliament, no institution in Ghana is above the sovereign will of the people.”

Mr. Kwesi Pratt opinion has been spew out as a results of the recent detected anomalies in the new compiled Voters Register for 2020 general elections and also the EC failure to involve actively the political parties in the printing and exhibiting of Voters ID Cards.

He has therefore asked the EC to give up the perception that the Commission is superior and cannot be put to check.

“It’s important for the electoral commission to understand this very very clearly and throw away this notion of super independence above everyone else. They cannot play God, it’s not God. The electoral Commission is a human institution created by the people of Ghana in their constitution to do what the people of Ghana want.” He said

More surprisingly, he said he found it straight when there was a strong division among the political parties in finding solution to the anomalies of the Voters Register.
