Police in Lagos state arrested 34 people for defying lockdown and social distance order to partake in a fitness training session.

The people social distance law was passed to stop the further spread of the unprecedented coronavirus which has killed thousands of people around the world. It is a crime in lagos to disregard this law.  A Magistrate Court in Yaba convicted the 34 defendants after they pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of working out in a group larger than 20 persons on the Gbagada-Oworonsoki Expressway.

The court has subjected them to 14 days in quarantine at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba, or any other place designated by the government and a month of community service.
Three out of the 34 people have however pleaded not guilty.
