The annual 3Music Awards which is in its fourth year was held virtually last night and streamed live to thousands of people on the internet.

The event took place at Accra International Conference Center, Grand Arena on Saturday, March 27. As fans and industry players debate over whether the recipients of the awards in the various categories actually deserve it, we have made a compilation of some of the talking points of the event that have probably escaped some people’s attention.

Don’t forget the subject matter that constitutes this writeup is captured from the author’s perspective which means everything we are going to talk about here is underlined under the subjective base.

And oh, before we even delve into the subject itself, let’s give it up for the organizers. This is unarguably the best award show we have seen in a very long time.

The Red Carpet hosts were a bit chaotic

Akrobeto, OB Amponsah, Lekzic the Comic, and Kalybos were given the mantle to host this year’s red carpet and from where we stand, they were very chaotic. You know what they say; too many cooks spoil the broth and that’s exactly what happened.

Akrobeto in particular was dragging the show with his dry jokes and uninteresting English language. OB Amponsah alone would have done a beautiful job.

They were entirely not bad, some of the questions they asked the celebs who graced the red carpet and the answers they got had fans entertained. But ultimately, some of us were bored at a point in time.

The Set

The set for this year’s show has earned rave reviews from connoisseurs and fans. It was beautiful and of high international standard.

Sarkodie, who had a glimpse of it days before the show, applauded the organizers for the remarkable effort they put in getting this top-notch set.

More significantly, the organizers created special stages for some artistes to perform in. KiDi and Mr Drew performed in a night club like set whilst Kofi Jamar performed on lounge-like set among others.

The performances

The organizers nearly undermined their own effort with technical issues but eventually, the amazing performances of the artistes saved the day.

It was as though the artistes wanted to outshine each other which ultimately made the fans the direct beneficiaries of their output.

Tribute To Osibisa performed by KiDi, Kofi Jamar and Mr Drew

Osibisa are a Ghanaian Afro Rock band, founded in London in 1969 by four expatriate African and three Caribbean musicians. Their music is a fusion of African, Caribbean, jazz, funk, rock, Latin, R&B, and highlife.

The new faces of the New School- KiDi, Kofi Jamar and Mr Drew did an incredible job by paying homage to this iconic group that put Ghana on the map several decades ago.

The group graced the stage with ’80s inspired outfits as they performed Dance the Body Music and the Warrior.

Kumericans and the New School squad

The New School, a colloquialism for talented budding artistes who have convinced everyone that they are here to stay in the music industry, proved why people have been making such a fuss about them.

Social media users were amazed by performances from Gyakie, Kofi Jamar, Kweku Flick, Yaw Tog, and YPee.
