Very strangely, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by John Dramani has said categorically that the party won’t engage the services of Ghanaian celebs to champion their cause this year.

We all know the vast influence of celebrities relative to political endorsement so this decision by the NDC came as a huge surprise. Mr. Mahama however explained that owing to the disdain Ghanaians have towards celebs who get aligned to political parties, he did not want to jeopardize their career.

In other words, he subtly suggested that because of the intolerant nature of the NPP folks who go all out to malign celebrities who endorse the NDC, he decided to shun their services for this year. Evidently, these celebs will be doing massive work behind the scenes.

He added that the support could lead to the destruction of the celebrity’s career. ‘I don’t want to affect their careers. People will misinterpret their support and think because they are supporting you I won’t buy their music or watch their movies. That shouldn’t be the case but unfortunately, that is what happens,’ he stated.

Let’s take a look at five celebs who are still vigorously campaigning for the NDC party despite the snub from Mahama.

1. Abeiku Santana

The ace broadcaster and employee of Despite Media was everywhere for the NDC four years ago. At a point in time, he wanted to contest in the 2016 NDC primaries in the Mfantseman constituency in the Central Region but opted out after all the media hype. He’s still doing the job behind the scenes for the party.

2. Mzbel

Mzbel is one of most vocal supporters of the NDC. Even though she’s not physically involved on the campaign trail, she’s doing most of the work on social media and trumpeting the good works of John Dramani Mahama.

3. Michael Ola

Just like Mzbel, Michael Ola is also doing most of the work on social media. Interestingly, he used to be an NPP member but switched camps when he saw all the ills of the elephant party.

4. Amandzeba Nat Brew

This legendary music icon is also doing his best to have Mahama come back through his interviews and occasional social media posts.

5. Mr. Beautiful

Kumawood actor Clement Bonney, also known as ‘Mr. Beautiful’ is one of the die-hard fans of the party and we guess that although he’s not conspicuous in the mainstream, he’s doing much of the job behind the scenes.
