An official press conference by Charterhouse, organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was held and to the surprised of many, two of the biggest artistes in Ghana, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have been banned indefinitely by the organizers and have been stripped off awards won during the 2019 edition of the awards.

Per information revealed from the press conference, results from the remaining two categories left, thus Artiste of the Year and Popular Song of the Year have been annulled.

Some Ghanaians have stated that, these sanctions are harsh with some noting that the decision by the organizers of the awards scheme isn’t right.

In this article, we look at five major taking points from the ban Charterhouse has imposed on Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.

#1 The decision to strip Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale from all the awards they won on that night, and the subsequent return of the plaques given to them.

#2 The decision to ban these two artistes indefinitely while we can clearly see the root cause of the whole incidence is from Charterhouse due to poor security.

#3 In addition to the ban, the nullification of results from the remaining two categories, thus Artiste of the Year category and the Most Popular Song of the Year award.

#4 With the results of some categories annulled, what then happens to the votes the general public cast to support their favorite artistes.

#5 Charterhouse failed to give details as to why weapons were allowed in the auditorium and subsequently endangering lives of all present. The organizers failed to also take responsibility for what happened and wholly, shifted the blame on the artistes.
