During the formative stage of Hip-life, artistes like Obrafuor, Lord Kenya and a host of others treated us with ‘real’ rap music wrapped in indigenous elements which the youth easily related to unlike what we are experiencing in recent times.

It’s true that the aforementioned artistes are no longer relevant now (to some extent though), but their contribution to the Hip-life genre is priceless and it’s the structures they erected in the past which has made it convenient for the likes of Sarkodie and Medikal to shine today.

I’ve compiled just five of those Old Hiplife tunes you should jam to during this weekend and let it drift you away in nostalgia. We admit there a lot of songs repertoire to choose from but I settled on the under listed songs because they appeal to me more and I know you’ll enjoy them too.
