67 Catholic Priests Killed By Coronavirus In Italy

The novel coronavirus pandemic has killed 67 catholic priest with many of the deaths recorded from Bergamo, the epicentre of the virus since it outbreak in the country.

It is believed that most of the deaths were as a result of the constant check up and contacts made with sick patients in hospitals and homes as directed by Pope Francis. ABS reports that ths youngest among the dead priests was 53 years old.

The tireless work of the priests is in the head and heart of the Pope who said a prayer for the departed priests. “I thank God for the example of heroism that the priests who pay with their lives give us,” he said. The Pontiff also addressed his prayers to the nuns who risk their lives to stay close to the sick and cater for them in these terrible times.
