Apparently doing good music in Ghana is not enough for some artistes to become a household name and make them rich proportionally.

It’s quite disheartening the artists contain herein have what it takes to get their names on everyone’s lips and amass the attention they deserve but sadly their efforts have not been appreciated.

Fortunately for artists who represent the ‘new school’- King Promise, KiDi, Kuame Eugene, and Wendy Shay they have registered their presence instantly on the music landscape within these relatively few years that they penetrated the mainstream.

In this write up, takes you through a list of seven talented Ghanaians artists who greatly need our support so they can blossom.

1. Ak Songstress

Akosua Kwakye, known professionally as AK Songstress specializes in the Dancehall genre. If you know the rudiments of music very well, Ak Songstress’ inability to become an A-list artiste will greatly surprise you.

With great songs like Overdose, King of Queens and Give Dem which featured Kuame Eugene, it’s startling the deadlocked female artiste is yet to ‘reach there.’ Well, despite this there have been some moments of respite which has illuminated her career.

Ak Songstress is the first female to ever win the ‘Discovery of the Year for Dancehall/Reggae Artiste’ at the 2014 BASS Awards. She also won the maiden edition of Superstars Reality Show with her song Holiday adjudged as the most popular song of the competition and her team won the Best Management Team.

3. Eno Barony

Without a shred of doubt, Eno Barony is the best female rapper in Africa. Yes, not just in Ghana but in the whole of Africa. Her wordplay, punchlines, and delivery show how remarkable she is behind the microphone.

The Kumasi-based rapper born Ruth Eno Adjoa Amankwah Nyame Adom released her debut single, Wats Ma Name, and also Tonga the remix of the track Tonga by Joey B ft Sarkodie in 2014 that lifted her into the limelight.

She raised the rap bar a notch higher when she lyrically murdered VGMA Hiphop/HipLife Artiste and Rapper of the Year Medikal in the famous diss song Argument Done.

Remember Sarkodie has labeled her as the best female rapper in the game while Artiste Manager Bulldog says she’s better than 98% of male rappers in the country. Hopefully, her new single with Kelvyn Boy dubbed Cheat will propel her to greater heights.

eShun is another great talent but bad management and mixing business with pleasure has relegated her to oblivion for a long time despite having produced very good songs over the years. eShun and her former manager who later became her boyfriend laundered their dirty linen in public with accusations and counter-accusations which ultimately explained how disappointing her career has been.

The beautiful singer attributed her inability to shine and make hay with her talent while the sun was emitting its rays on her was because of Stephen Mensah, his manager, and boyfriend. eShun said she had to leave his label to save her life when things got sour. In an interview with ZionFelix eShun said she left her ex-managers care with no money.

Her most distinctive song is Ojorley which got her some considerable attention. However, despite all the great songs she has, Ghanaians are yet to appreciate her fully.
