Kenneth Sylvanus, 24, Chibuzor Amadi, 33, and Chijioke Ogbonnah, 37 have all been arrested by the River State Police Command for allegedly murdering a nine-year-old boy for rituals.

The victim identified as Destiny Peter was reported missing to the police and youth in the community by his aunt on Thursday, November 11, 2021. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Nnamdi Omoni, a serious search that was launched as a result of the report led to the recovery of the headless body of Peter in the bush the following day.

Fingers were pointed at suspect Kenneth Sylvanus and his companion Chibuzor Amadi after intelligence was gathered. The suspects confessed to killing Destiny Peter after which they severed his head from his body.

Chibuzor Amadi was apprehended right away and led the police to an abandoned building in Azumini Isiokpo, where Kenneth Sylvanus was also arrested.

The two suspects led the officers to a bush where the deceased’s severed head was discovered behind an unfinished structure.

Kenneth Sylvanus confessed to killing Destiny Peter after additional interrogation, claiming that the third suspect, Chijioke Ogbonnah, had ordered him to bring a human head for him to buy.

The accused Chijioke Ogbonnah was detained in his Omagwa home on Thursday, November 18, 2021, based on his confession.

Ogbonna Chijioke denied any involvement in the murder case in a statement, saying he is a herbalist who distributes spiritual items, including therapy for a variety of maladies. The three are currently in police custody assisting them with further investigations.
