Ghanaian writer, teacher, and motivational speaker Mrs. Victoria Otoo has single-handedly started A Chapter A Day Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) aimed at inculcating the culture of reading into Ghanaian children and even adults.

Given the advent of social media and technology which have eroded the habit of conventional reading, Vicky Otoo wants to use her foundation to reach out to millions of children to read and explore their world through books. In an exclusive interview with www.Ghgossip.com, the soft-spoken writer bemoaned the lackadaisical attitude exhibited towards reading which has been worsed by the influx of technology as stated previously in our contemporary epoch.

She said she wants to see this project blossom and sustainable so she can spread her tentacles to the rest of Africa and even the whole world. Vicky has authored very interesting and reader-friendly fiction books such as Ugly Beauty, and If I Were A Boy. The Teen Detective, A Speck on the Eye, and Clifford The Born Again which are all blockbuster literary compositions are set to be released in 2021.

A Chapter A Day, According to Mrs. Otoo is purposely designed to make every child read at least two books a month- which means within a year, every child in Ghana should be able to read 24-books. She continues to say for a start, she wants to have a strong impact on over 300 children and take it beyond that, all things being equal. The seasoned writer also said kids with reading problems will also have special attention so they can overcome their deficiencies. Additionally, she wants every child to read the Bible as well so they can be equipped with the word of God which can direct their path.

Mrs. Vicky Otoo is passionate about this foundation as she wants to reduce the illiteracy level in Ghana and wants every child to speak seamless English which is Ghana’s lingua franca. Beyond that, she wants kids to be well informed and educated. In the meantime, the foundation is solely sponsored by her handsome husband, Mr. Isaac Otoo- a Ghanaian businessman based here in Nungua- a suburb of Accra.

Vicky says in order to actualize her dream. she needs well-meaning Ghanaians, corporate bodies, and the government to help her so can reach every corner across the length and breadth of the country. This is indeed a good initiative, let’s support her.
