President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his Covid-19 update today, Sunday 18 October, 2020, has confirmed to the people of Ghana that, daily infection rate of the novel Corona Virus is now significantly low in the country.

Speaking from the Jubilee House, in his address, he said “The signs and data, tell us the trajectory of the virus in Ghana nearest that of the epidemic, would reduce disease activity. Our daily infection rates are no longer in the hundreds as they were sometimes back.”

The President said the official collated figures of the infection rate of Covid-19 is now in the tenths, which is significantly low compared to other neighboring countries, and other advanced countries of the West.

“Presently, they are in the tenths, averaging 25 new cases per day, in the course of last week. This is in sharp contrast in what is happening in the countries, that are experiencing second wave of the infection, whee in some instances, new infection and hospitalizations, are sadly in the thousands per day. He stated.

The President in his attribution to the low daily recording infection rate of Covid-19 in the country, he admonished the government for implementation of infectious measures and protocols, also recognized Ghanaians adherence to all safety protocols of hand washing with soup under running water, nose mask wearing and practicing social distancing.

“When you take a close look, and the measures some other countries are having to take, including imposing night time curfews and partial lock downs, declaring state of emergencies, limiting the numbers of people permitted at public gatherings and mandatory fining persons for not wearing masks, all in the bid to contain the second wave of the virus, we in Ghana had been spared all these developments and restrictions,”

“We must, thus, be doing something right. In fact, our favorable situation at the moment, is thanks to the effectiveness of government policies, the cooperation of you the Ghanaian people, and ultimately, to the grace of God.” The President said.
