Police in Kumasi have arrested an all-female gang who have made various financial transactions with counterfeit money.

Their crooked activities were uncovered after a special operation by the police. As the police got to their hideout, about 15 ladies were reportedly present.

According to a report by the dailymailggh.com, one of their members identified as Joyce Ama was earlier arrested at the Ejura market on May 24.

This lady was allegedly going around buying items with some fake 100 and 200 Cedis notes.

The police stormed their Embassy Hotel hideout at about 10 pm and eight persons were arrested. The identities of the ladies arrested are Diana Asamoah, 24, Abena Boatemaa, 33, Afia Pokuah, 40, Abena Gyamfuah, 28 and Charlotte Oforiwaa, 29, Joana Yeboah, 29, Sandra Oforiwaa, 30 and Serwaa Rebecca, a teenager.

The police also discovered that a genuine cash sum of ¢32,658 while another ¢17,000 worth of suspected fake notes was seen.

Additionally, another raid occurred at Ducor Hotel at Abrepo in Kumasi with seven other suspects being arrested.

Per the report, they lived in separate hotel rooms when police stormed the facility just before 11 pm and their identities were also given as Antwiwaa Ama Victoria, Esther Akua Asamoah, Theresa Adwoa Oforiwaa, Irene Ama Serwaa, Yaa Afful and Patience Nyarko.

Also, a genuine cash sum of ¢2,000 and suspected counterfeit notes in various denominations amounting to ¢24,110 were seized.

In a statement, the police said;

“Assorted items like microwave, wall clock, bicycle, cooking oil, silver set, soap, pepper, tubers of yam, agrochemicals were retrieved from them purported to have been purchased with fake currencies just to gain genuine currencies.”
