Following the retirement of Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, the head coach of Ghana’s senior national team, Kwesi Appiah has named playmeaker, Andre Dede Ayew as the captain of the Black Stars.
This decision by the head coach is due to Gyan’s shocking retirement yesterday. Asamoah Gyan announced his retirement from international football permanently after rumours broke out that Kwesi Appiah is trying to ditch him as captain.
Coincidentally, Andre Dede Ayew captained the national U-20 team in 2009 and won the FIFA world cup at that level in Egypt, same venue for this year’s AFCON tournament.
