Nigerian born-British based professional boxer Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, has paid tribute to George Floyd, the unarmed black man who was killed by Minneapolis police officer, Derek M. Chauvin.
On Monday at 8 p.m, Minneapolis police said officers were called to the intersection of Chicago Avenue and East 38th Street on a report of someone trying to use a forged document at Cup Foods.
The police, arriving at the scene arrested George Floyd without him resisting arrest. In a video sighted on social media, the 4 police officers pinned the deceased down on the groud with Officer Derek’s knee on his neck causing him to have difficulty in breathing as he was heard saying ” I can’t breath “. Bystanders reached out to the officer to listen to George but he turned deaf ear and continued to choke him with his knee till he passed.
The death of George Floyd has received total uproar in several states in America and around the world. Both black and white communities have resorted to protesting on streets, seeking justice for the father of one. Celebrities and public figures have sent in tribute to the family of the deceased.
Boxing Heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua is the latest to send his tribute to the family of the deceased. Known to be using his page for sports only, the boxer said he genuinely cares and knows that there should be change in the system hence his decision to add his voice to the above issue.
