Heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has revealed he borrowed one of Floyd Mayweather’s moves to finish his Bulgarian opponent, Kubrat Pulev in the ring.

The match between the British born fighter and the Bulgarian had all the hype it needed to make it one of the most-watched boxing event. The biggest highlight was the audience allowed on ringside.

Joshua put out a spectacular performance in the ring by knocking out Kubrat Pulev to retain the retain the WBA, IBF and WBO title belts.

According to Joshua, the presence of retired boxer Floyd Mayweather was key to his success in the ring. Speaking on his Youtube channel, he said he pulled off one of Mayweather’s signature moves (the pull-counter) and that helped him finish the Bulgarian.

“It was an honour to have him in the house. I respect him highly for what he has achieved. He came to see me perform and I pulled off one of his favourite moves – the pull-counter. If you watch boxing you will know that is one of Mayweather’s signature moves.”

Mayweather on the other hand spoke highly of Joshua and how he enjoys his craft.

“I’m proud of Joshua. He is one of the best heavyweights out there. He won [an Olympic] gold medal, his career is going great, a two-time heavyweight champion. He is a hell of a fighter. He is a gentleman and I enjoy his craft.”
