The Coordinator of NADMO for Prestea Huni-Valley, Francis Abeiku Yankah, has declared Apiate, the community where the explosion occurred in Bogosa a “dead community.”
Speaking to TV3 in an interview, Francis Abeiku revealed that the devastation has rendered the community uninhabitable by anyone.
Police have stated that a mining explosive vehicle traveling from Tarkwa to Chirano mines was involved in a collision with a motorcycle, which caused the explosion.
‘I was driving back from Prestea when I heard an explosion in the distance.’ “I began moving towards the scene after receiving a phone call from a journalist informing me of what had occurred.”
“When I arrived in the area, I was shocked to see the complete devastation of the community known as Apiati; the community is currently dead and cannot be inhabited by anyone.”
As a result of the explosion, ten lifeless bodies were found lying on the ground. In a statement to TV3’s George Kwening on Thursday, January 20, the MCE said that he was also informed of the news and that excavators were dispatched to the scene to rescue trapped bodies after a number of buildings had collapsed.
