Arsenal have confirmed Thomas Partey is not available for their Premier League encounter against Leeds United this week.
The midfielder, who joined them in the summer transfer window from Atletico Madrid, is nursing a thigh injury. Partey sustained the injury prior to the international break in Arsenal’s shock 3-0 defeat by Aston Villa.
No [Partey will not play], he picked up an injury very early in the game [against Aston Villa], he tried to carry on and he wanted to play the second half and we knew it was a significant injury,” Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said in the pre-match interview.
Arteta added: “He has done really well, he is working very hard and he wants to be available. Hopefully, we can get him back soon but it is an area where we have to be careful and a bit protective with the player.”
