Highlife and afrobeat singer Gregory Bortey Newman, well known as King Promise has said that he is not bothered about awards because it does not put money in his pocket.

In an interview with Kastle FM in Cape Coast told the host Amasan Krakye that although he is interested in winning awards that is not his main focus since awards do not put money in his pocket. He said awards are normally a way to show appreciation for a good job done.

“I don’t bother myself too much about awards because it doesn’t put any money into my pockets,” he said on the Kastle Drive show.

He added “Of course I’m not saying I don’t like awards obviously it is an appreciation of the job and it’s nice to know that you’ve been recognized. But that’s not my main focus, my focus is about doing good music and making the fans happy whilst making money through streaming of my songs,” he concluded.

In other news, a pregnant woman and her son have been knocked down by a taxi cab at Aduamoa Junction in Kwahu Nkwatia in the Eastern Region. According to the report, the accident occurred on Monday evening around 5:00 pm.

According to reports, the driver of the taxi cab with registration number GR-5785-12 lost control of the steering wheel while driving and knocked down the pregnant woman identified as Esther Agyei, 26, and her son Emmanuel Yamoah 5 who were standing by the roadside.

The pregnant woman has been rushed to the Kwahu Government Hospital at Atibie and her son to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
