Players of Barcelona have decided to let go off 70 per cent of their salaries amid the coronavirus crisis in Spain.

The decision is help support the club to pay other staff as non-football activities due to the pandemic is affecting the club’s finances.

Initial reports were that Barcelona players had decided not to accept pay cut but captain Messi said the decision was delayed as the players were “looking for a formula to help the club”.

Spain’s national death toll now stands at 7,340, making it the worst-affected country in the world behind Italy.
