Japan based fashion billionaire Yusaku Maezawa is on the search for a girlfriend to join him on a trip around the moon. The trip will be documented into series.
The 44-year-old Maezawa, is seeking single females aged over 20 for the show, which will be shown on streaming service AbemaTV.
This is what he wrote online for the applicants:
” As feelings of loneliness and emptiness slowly begin to surge upon me, there’s one thing that I think about: continuing to love one woman,”
He added:
“I want to find a ‘life partner’. With that future partner of mine, I want to shout our love and world peace from outer space,” His trip to the moon will set off in 2023 as the first private passenger with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Maezawa, recently broke up with his actress girlfriend Ayame Goriki, 27. On this trip, he plans to take artists on the flight to inspire works based on the experience, in a project he dubbed Dear Moon.
The documentary is titled “Full Moon Lovers”, and will stream on AbemaTV, which is backed by online advertising agency CyberAgent and broadcaster TV Asahi and targets a younger audience that is turning away from traditional TV.
Applicants must “be interested in going into space and able to participate in the preparation for it” and “be someone who wishes for world peace”
The deadline for applications is January 17, and according to the website Maezawa aims to have selected a partner to take to the moon by March this year.
Earlier this year he pledged to divide $9 million amongst 1,000 of his followers in order to conduct a “social experiment” into whether money makes people happier.
Last year Maezawa sold a 30% stake in his online fashion company Zozo and resigned as CEO , taking a $2.3 billion exit package with him. The billionaire told reporters that his 2023 moon flight was part of the reason he’d decided to step down, saying “training to go into space will take up much of my time.”
