Ghanaian High-life singer, Bisa Kdei has revealed in a new interview that despite the seemingly dominance of Dancehall music over other genres of music in Ghana especially High-life, the latter will still stand the test of time and remain relevant indefinitely.
“From my perspective, Highlife has taken me to a lot of places and it will surprise you. I have always stood by it that we must stop saying Highlife is dying.
Highlife is not faring well and all that. Highlife is what belongs to us, hence if we have to sell something we have to sell Ghanaian music instead of saying Dancehall is taking over and those kinds of words”, he told Buju Banton in an interview on Sika FM in Kumasi.
Bisa Kdei continued that, “when you travel outside the country, all what they want to listen is our Highlife and nothing else”.
Although the singer who recently flaunted his super duplex mansion on social media whiles blasting those who jab him for composing ‘funeral songs’, did not mention Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale’s name, it’s evident that he was referring to them since they remain the frontrunners of the Dancehall genre.
