In a sad report, Ghana and Asante Kotoko legend Opoku Afriyie has reportedly passed on. Details of the cause of his death are still sketchy but trust us to get to the bottom of this.

He reportedly died on Sunday, March 29 in Kumasi.

Popularly called ‘Bayie’, Opoku Afriyie played for both of Ghana’s two top clubs, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak during his playing days.

He was the top goal scorer of the local league in 1979 and 1981 and he was a member of the Ghana team that won the 1978 African Cup of Nations scoring the only two goals in the finals.

He was one of twenty Ghanaians among 200 footballers nominated by CAF in the list of Best African Footballers of the last 50 years.
