Thomas Partey

In the 9th round of the English Premier League, Arsenal of London hosted Aston Villa of Birmingham at the Emirates Stadium. The Canaries were victorious (3-1), with Black Stars player Thomas Partey scoring the first goal for Arsenal.

After beating Tottenham in the derby, Mikel Arteta’s side drew twice with Brighton and Crystal Palace, leaving the bookmakers unsure of the home side’s victory. Bookmaker Evobet, whose review can be found at https://bookmaker-ratings.com/review/evobet-bookmaker-review/, gave the Can aries a little over 50% chance of winning.

However, Arsenal took the lead on 23 minutes thanks to a Thomas Partey goal. The midfielder headed the ball home following a Smith Rowe corner-kick. Thomas not only netted the first goal for the club. He also marked the first time a Ghanaian player has scored for Arsenal.

Another African midfielder scored at the end of the first half as Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slotted the ball into Aston Villa’s net after the keeper had saved a penalty.

In the second half, the teams traded goals as Emile Smith Rowe scored for the Londoners and Jacob Ramsey netted for Birmingham.

The win raised the London side to 10th position in the Premier League table with 14 points.

Later in the week, Mikel Arteta’s side managed a 2-0 win over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup 1/8 final, with Chambers and Nketiah scoring. The Ghanaian was rested for the match and spent the entire game on the bench.
