In a sad report, a group of children who were playing discovered the body of a newborn baby which was dumped in a 20-litre drum.
The incident happened at Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape, and it was confirmed by the police.
The children made the discovery while they were playing in a water channel at Central’s Gamble Street.
According to the police spokesperson, Captain Gerda Swart, a post-mortem will be conducted on the body of the baby to determine the cause of death.
She said;
“The circumstances surrounding the discovery and how the body landed up there are not clear, and it is under investigation.
