The Ghana Police Service has reacted to the tragedy that befell residents of Apiate, a suburb in Bogoso in the Western Region following a gas explosion that allegedly claimed the lives of more than 100 people in the community.

News came in this afternoon that a gas explosion at Apiate killed over 100 people in the community. According to reports by a journalist on Onua FM this afternoon, this disaster occurred as a result of an overtaking by a Fuel Tanker Truck on the road. 

The overtaking resulted in the capsizing of the fuel tanker truck leading to a massive explosion. This also happened at a fuel station. So one could imagine the kind of explosion.

The number of deaths, according to the reporter, is estimated to be in the hundreds as authorities were deployed to the scene to control the situation and maintain law and order.

In reaction to that, the Ghana Police Service assured the residents of Apiate in the Western Region as they try their possible best to manage the unfortunate situation.
