The Ghana National Fire Service has Confirmed that, no cash was bunt in the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) Kantamanto, Accra branch which caught fire on Saturday.

The first floor of the 6-story building of the Liberty Towers of GCB Kantamanto branch in Accra, caught fire on Saturday 28th November, 2020.

Mr Ellis Robinson Okoe, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the GNFS Division Officer 1 in his account of the fire disclosed that, the first floor of the 6-story Liberty Towers where the fire started contained some stationery which prevented the spread of the fire to the other floors of the building.

In his account, he noted that, 40 Fire Service Personnel came to work on quenching the fire from spreading.

He said “We had a distress call that the Liberty Towers Branch of the GCB Bank had been gutted by fire. We rushed in and realized that the fire started from the first floor which contains only stationery. We have confined the fire and our men are on the ground working to ensure we douse it. There are currently 40 men in the building.”

Mr. Ellis Robinson Okoe said when asked about the probable cause of the fire.

“I don’t want to speculate but the Chief Operating officer told me they did some fumigation and I am not sure that is what sparked the fire. Fire outbreak investigation is a science and we will investigate and establish the cause.”
