There is a saying that disability is never an inability. There have been several occasions where people born with disabilities manage to get to the top and make it in life.

Some people base on their disabilities and end up begging on the streets. Others also end up giving up on themselves due to the inability to fit into society.

But these three Nigerian have proven that no matter your disability, if you are destined for greatness, you will surely be.

  1. Cobhams Asuquo

Cobhams Asuquo is a Renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter who was born blind. The Popular musician was born on the 6th of January 1981 so apparently, today happens to be his birthday. Aside from his tremendous voice, the singer also plays piano and guitar. Cobhams has been blind from birth but has managed to make his way to the top with his talent, ignoring his disabilities. Cobhams is married to Ojuola Asuquo and has a son who sadly was also born blind. We believe with the example set by his father, Cobhams’ son will also achieve his goals despite his disabilities.

2. Yahaya Makaho

Kaduna-based musician Mallam Yahaya Makaho was also born blind but his love for music and zeal of never giving up on life despite his disabilities has made him who he is today. Yahaya has released so many hit songs like Zamani, Mutuwa among others, and recently released his latest album.

In his latest interview, Mallam Yahaya Makaho revealed that his love and passion for music has been one of the main reasons he is famous. He revealed that he started singing even before became popular.

3. Chidinma Ekile

Chidinma as she is popularly known in the music industry has also proven herself as one of the most talented young Nigerian musicians. Her popularity came after she took part in the Popular Talent-Hunting TV Show dubbed, Project Fame.

According to her, she was conceived and born blind from the womb and for 15 days after birth, she never opened her eyes but due to the intervention of God, she opened her eyes on the 16th day and it has been so ever since.

In an interview, the singer revealed that her song titled Martha was dedicated to her mother, Martha Ekile.
