One would have thought the affordable housing initiative instituted by the government will help the common Ghanaian but it seems that isn’t the case as a single room at the facility would be sold at a whopping GHC 99,000.
The government has rolled out plans to sell about 1,079 housing units under the Asokore Mampong Affordable Housing Project in the Ashanti region by March this year.
The Deputy Minister for Works and Housing and MP for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi said in an interview on Kumasi-based Angel FM that has been completed and ready for sale.
Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi indicated in his interview that individuals, professional associations and institutions who may be interested to purchase some of the housing units would have to be ready to splash an amount between GHC 99, 000 and GHC 335, 000 for various types of rooms ranging from one to three bedrooms.
In his interview, he said;
“For the Asokore Mampong Project, the recommended prices are out; I’m saying recommended, I’m qualifying it before I will be misquoted. The houses are ready; 1-Bedroom Standard will sell at GHC 99,000, 1-Bedroom Special will also sell at GHC 142,500; 2-bedroom will sell at GHC 182, 500 and 3-bedroom will go for GHC 335,000.”
