A church’s accountant has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after court found him guilty for stealing from the church coffers.
The accountant of the Church of Brethren in Nigeria, Ibrahim Aku defrauded the church of about N15.5 million. These are monies from offerings, donation from philanthropists and tithes of church members. This incident is said to have happened between 2016 and 2018.
The former Church accountant who was exposed for forgery in obtaining money by false pretence was ordered by Federal High Court to pay back the money to the church.
