Reports coming in from Karaga in the Northern region suggest the driver of the District Chief Executive (DCE) has been allegedly shot dead by some unknown gunmen.

Ziblim Issah, who serves as the official driver to the DCE of the Karaga district, Mr Alhassan Yabdow is said to have been shot at close range in the forehead by some unknown gunmen when returning from a trip on the Yamo- Karaga road.

Reports indicate the driver had earlier dropped Mr Alhassan off at the regional capital Tamale for some official functions and was given some time off by his boss to service the car.

After servicing the official Nissan Patrol vehicle, Ziblim Issah is said to have been returning to the district capital and was moments away when the unknown gunmen attacked him just some few kilometers away from the Karaga township.

According to sources, the driver was found died in the earlier hours of Saturday morning when travelers and users of the road found him behind the steer wheel with a gunshot wound to his head.

They say the ignition of the car was still on and running when he was found, and the Karaga Police command’s attention was drawn to the scene.

Many believes the incident happened around 11 pm on Friday, May 28th 2021 when the road was quite and a bit lonely.

The Karaga District Police Command is yet to issue an official statement pertaining to the matter or comment about it.
