Derek Chauvin, Found Guilty Of The Murder Of George Floyd

Reports coming in from Minnesota in the United States indicates the police officer who was involved in the murder of George Floyd has been found guilty.

Recall the defense attorney of Derek Chauvin in his defense about a month ago stated the victim , George Floyd may have died from drug overdose as opposed to the excessive force applied to his neck by the police officer.

The attorney kept their story of the victim been under the influence of hard ‘drugs’ and alcohol according to some employees at the market where George Floyd was murder.

Chauvin’s lawyer Eric Nelson, presented a video evidence and autopsy to the court which shows George was coming from the market before he was confronted by the police and some level of ‘speedball’ was found in his system.

But in all, the court has convicted and sentenced the 45 years old Derek Chauvin into 75 years imprisonment after he was found guilty with all the three charges leveled against him. The charges were 2nd Degree murder, 3rd Degree murder and 2nd Degree manslaughter.

According to the spokeperson for the Minnesota Department of Corrections, the former police officer has been transferred to the Minnesota Correctional Facility to begin his prison sentence.

George Floyd was allegedly murdered in June 2020 after Derek Chauvin arrested the victim and pinned him down to the ground with his knee on his neck. According to eye witnesses, the victim kept on screaming the ‘I can’t breath’ begging the police officer to take his knee off his neck.

The death of George Floyd was the beginning of the famous ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest that took place in most parts of the United States and in Europe.

The protest escalated quickly as it later turned violent with many protestors breaking into private and public properties looting and stealing stuffs and burning down buildings.
