It has come to the notice of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) that some fraudsters are demanding bills from its customers through Momo in their name.

In view of that, the company has cautioned its customers about such fraudulent activities by these unknown persons regarding the payment of electricity bills.

The company revealed in a statement that “these fraudsters call, send SMS or WhatsApp messages to unsuspecting customers, demanding payments for various services including service connection and electricity consumed, through mobile money (MOMO) transactions.”

It further stated that the ECG will only communicate and render its services to its customers through their ECG Power Mobile App or shortcode *226#.

It added that the company will not demand payments for services through mobile money.

In other news published on ghgossip.com, Ghanaian media personality, Nana Romeo Welwele of Accra FM has sent a message to the Inspector General of Police in reaction to the recent murder of a bullion van police officer at Jamestown.

According to Nana Romeo, it has been the norm of most police officers to be using their smartphones when they are on duty.

Speaking on his show, Nana Romeo stated that mostly, police officers who have been charged to guard various institutions and personalities are fond of using their phones even when they are on duty.
