The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stripped off the hosting right off Cameroon and handed it over to Egypt, the continent most successful nation in the history of the competition.
This decision was obviously reached as a result of Cameroon’s lackadaisical attitude as far preparations for the this rear’s edition of the tournament is concerned.
CAF had the option of choosing between Egypt and South Africa, as they were the only two countries who submitted their bids to host the flagship tournament in June 2019.
On Tuesday, in a CAF Executive Council meeting in Dakar, Senegal, Egypt polled more votes to become the emergency hosts this year’s event.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations will for the first time involve 24 teams and also played in June and not the traditional January.
We hope the Black Stars will end their perpetual failure in annexing the trophy since they last won it in 1982.
Go Ghana!
