Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, the Emir of Bungudu in Zamfara State has been freed after being in captivity for a month.

On September 14, the Zamfara monarch was abducted when robbers assaulted his mo torcade on the Kaduna-Abuja Highway.

He was released on Saturday evening in Kaduna state, according to a source. The monarch’s release was also verified by Gazali Shehu Ahmad, Special Adviser on Strategy to Governor Bello Matawalle.

Ahmad wrote;

 “On behalf of the family and Bungudu Emirate, we wish to thank everyone for the prayers and support during this trying time.

“We appreciate all the efforts of Kaduna State Government throughout this challenging period. Our immense gratitude to the Zamfara State Government in playing a key role to see our father returned home safely.”

“We salute the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) for the support in facilitating the release of the Emir.

“We wish to plead with the public to respect the privacy of the Emir in the coming weeks as he receives medical attention and post-trauma management.”

In other news, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has condemned the state’s high degree of religious crisis.

Over the years, the North-Central state has seen an unusual amount of religious confrontations, primarily between Muslims and Christians.

El-Rufai, speaking at the state’s Council To Regulate Religious Preaching, said it’s unfortunate that religion has become so militarized that something that should bring God’s creatures united is now tearing them apart.

”Most of the residents of Kaduna State are very religious, like other Nigerians. But Kaduna State is unfortunately one of the states in the country with a sad history of religious clashes. The personal exercise of faith and the better conduct and character that spirituality promotes helps society to progress. But religion has unfortunately been weaponized so much that something that should bring God’s creatures closer together in a common awareness of mortal frailties has become a device to question the right of some of God’s creatures to even exist at all, let alone practice their faith or live wherever they wish.”
