The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has reportedly recorded 39 cases of coronavirus after conducting a mass testing exercise for its staff.

A total of 450 staff including the Chief Executive Officer were tested.

Out of this, 39 had their samples return positive.

The Authority in a statement said “All thirty-nine (39) staff were asked to go into self-quarantine and those who were in close proximity to them were also asked to do same and were provided with the necessary logistics to do so,”

Meanwhile, 38 out of the 39 have recovered “and will soon be reporting to work whiles the remaining 1 is responding to treatment”.

The statement issued by Head of Communications & Public Education James Lartey said the Authority will strictly follow all laid-down protocols and, in addition, fumigate its offices across the nation every two weeks.

“The FDA by this notice assures staff and the general public of its utmost interest to ensure their protection at all times.”
