To commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival, the Federal Government has proclaimed Tuesday, July 20, and Wednesday, July 21, 2021 as public holidays.

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Minister of Interior, revealed this in a statement issued today, July 15.
Aregbesola commended all Muslim faithful and Nigerians at home and abroad on the celebration in a statement signed by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr Shuaib Belgore.

“I call on Muslims to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, peace, kindness and sacrifice, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for peace, unity, prosperity and the stability of the country, considering the challenges of insecurity we face at the moment.

These mainly are bandits in the North West and North Central, insurgents in the North East, kidnappers, armed robbers, ethnic agitators and sundry criminals in other parts of the country,” Aregbesola said

He added that the Buhari is “committed to the security of lives and property of every Nigerian, and empowering the citizens for successful living, the provisions of social investments programmes and adequate security in the schools, especially with the spate of innocent school children being targets of kidnapping”.

Earlier Ghgossip reported that Lagos Police Boss, Hakeem Odumosu has disclosed that the police command has gathered some connivance relating to the death of Super TV CEO, Uwaifo Ataga.

Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect of the case has since been in the custody of the police.

On Wednesday, July 14, when presenting criminal suspects detained by the command, Odumosu refuted charges that the command is aiming to bury the case. As he puts it;

“Chidinma initially was the only suspect that we arrested, but now, we have arrested additional suspects. So, members of the public should know that investigation into Chidinma’s case is progressing.

The fundamental human rights of the suspects still exist under the constitution. The insinuation that the police want to sweep the case under the carpet, that will never happen.

No matter the propaganda, we will never wither and we are not covering anybody as we have been able to establish conspiracy in the case.”
