The Federal Government of Nigeria has now given private individuals the mandate to build, operate or maintain assets on some federal highways.

These assets are up for concession, and the arrangement is under the new highway development and management initiative (HDMI).

According to The Nation, the initiative is contained in a new document on how the partnership would be executed.

This document was released by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing and signed by Boade Akinola who is director of press and publicity.

In the document, the concession process will be classified into two categories — value-added concession and unbundled assets approvals.
