Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has defended the government’s decision to keep final year Senior High Students in school amid coronavirus fears.
There have reports of coronavirus outbreak in couple of schools since the students returned to write WASSCE examination. Earlier this week, parents stormed Accra Girls to withdraw their wards after six students tested positive.
There have been several calls by the public to close down schools again and set a new date but according to such a move will have grave consequences for the students.
Do you know what may happen to some of them when they are home? They could be opened up to rape predators and other vices,” he argued in local dialect Asante Twi in an interview on Peace FM.
“I will be committing a sin if I ask that because of some few cases I ask that schools are closed down,” Dr Opoku Prempeh explained.
