A German amateur football match ended 37-0 as the team at the losing end paid the price for socially distancing from their opponents because of coronavirus.

The losing side, SG Ripdorf/Molzen II, played with seven players, the minimum team size required to compete the fixture.

This is after their opponents, SV Holdenstedt II had played against a team, that had recorded a positive coronavirus case.

Holdenstedt squad tested negative prior to the match, but Ripdorf did not feel conditions were safe enough to properly compete, hence decided to field seven players.

They would have paid a €200 (£182.64) fine if they forfeited the match.
