Incumbent Togolese ruler, H.E Fuare Gnassingbe is looking forward to retaining his power as president as the nation goes to polls today.

According to a report by Al Jazeera, 53-year-old Fuare Gnassingbe appears to be the possible winner after today’s general elections as many voters want to give him the nod to run another four years as their leader.

If he wins after today’s elections, then it means an expansion in the Gnassingbe family’s decades-long rule as it becomes his fourth-straight term in office.

Fuare succeeded his father Eyadema Gnassingbe in 2005 after his father passed on.

His father ruled the country for 38 years after embarking on a coup in 1967.
