This is the kind of breakthrough most actors and actress from Africa dream of-to feature in a Hollywood movie. Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele-Bello has gotten that rare opportunity as she has been reportedly cast in the upcoming Marvel movie “Avengers: Infinity War.”

As seen on the movies full cast list, the actress will play a member of the Black Panther’s guards, Dora Milaje. The Dora Milaje are superior women recruited from every tribe of the fictional Wakanda who serve as the personal bodyguards of the Black Panther.

She will feature alongside top Hollywood actors from Don Cheadle and Chris Pratt to Scarlett Johansson. This makes it the first time a Nigerian-born actor will feature in a Hollywood superhero movie.

The “Avengers: Infinity War” movie, which is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, has been set for a May 4, 2018, release.

Based on the Marvel Comics superhero Avengers team, the movie is a sequel to The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultronand a crossover between/sequel to Captain America: Civil WarDoctor StrangeGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther.

Funke Akindele is known for her huge sense of humour which she potrays in her movies especially the highly successful Jennifa’s Diary which is aired on TV3 on Sundays.
