The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of Charterhose, organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards added that he would not have been bothered if he was alone and faced those threats from customers.

Although in the midst of the controversy was when they needed me most but it is a stretch when what you want to do is beginning to affect the lives of people that are dear to you,” he added.

He told Sammy Forson host of the show, that he could not afford to put his family and through such threats and not have the assurance they would be safe.

Menzgold was founded by Nana Appiah Mensah aka NAM1. The firm is reported to have initially traded as Menzbank; then changed to Menzbanc and then finally to Menzgold, due to warnings from the Bank of Ghana about the use of ‘bank’ as a company name for a non-banking entity.

The Bank of Ghana and Security Exchange Commission warned the general public that the gold dealer was operating illegally hence people should desist from doing business with them.

Eventually, the authorities closed down the company in 2018, with several dollars of investors being locked up till date.
