Ghana comedy has often being the subject of mockery from a cross section of Ghanaians. Often, the barometer used to assess our comedians are their counterparts from neighbouring country, Nigeria.

Well, if you belong to that cluster of people who subscribe to the noti on that Ghanaian comedy is on the verge of collapse since the vibrant days of KSM, Fritz Baffour and Tommy Annan Forson, you better rewrite your script.

Last Friday at National Theatre of Ghana, the Laughline Comedy Show gave us a glimpse of the huge potential the comedy industry has in the arts and entertainment sphere.

Lekzy Decomic hosted the show admirably with his well timed jokes in between each session.

The likes of OB Amponsah (my favourite of the night), Wontongo, Khemikal, James Brown, Teacher Kwadwo Foster Romanus and the only female amongst them, Shawkiya sent patrons laughing their lungs out through the charged atmosphere started by the first act.

There were earlier performances from Nuhu, Alowess and Sportoo and Bogo Blay as well as Feli Nuna thrilled the audience with music performances.

The event was a collaboration between the National Theatre and Kasa Entertainment.

There’s future for the industry if this sort of momentum can be sustained.
