In an interview with on GBC’s Radio Central during her campaign tour in the Central Region monitored by ghgossip.com,Prof Naana Jane alluded to the fact that the out programme is just like a national service so there is no point in trainee teachers doing both.

“The out programme attached to teacher training is like learning a trade and being tasked to perform some duties as well. Once you are doing the out programme it’s like doing your national service.

“Why then do you direct such trainees to do another one year national service when they are done with everything needed for them to perform well in the classroom. The worry I have with the national service for teacher trainees is that the students themselves are not happy about it.”

Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang is an educationist and was the Vice-Chancellor of UCC.
