The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is determined to change the narrative in Zongo communities to erase the negative perception attached to Zongo youth .
According to the Vice President ,the Zongo youth were over the years were used for violence and some politicians even recruit them as vigilantes but his government has already sent some youth of zongo to Cuba which has never happened in Ghana before according to him.

Speaking in an interview with URA Radio in Bolgatanga,Dr Mahamudu Bawumia noted that there is a change which they making interms of emphasis.
“The Zongo youth were just been used for violence but we want to change that. This year we’ve sent forty Zongo students to Cuba to study Medicine. This is the first time something like this is happening. So we want them to get education. So there is a change that we are making in terms of emphasis. We want to bring development and education.”
