The Health Ministry has gotten clearance from the Finance Ministry to recruit over 54,000 new health workers.

This was revealed by the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu on Thursday, May 16, 2019, who confirmed that the services of 54,892 will be engaged.

Taking his turn at the Meet-The-Press series, the minister said a majority of those recruited were outstanding workers from 2012 and 2016.

He explained that the Ministry has also launched an electronic platform to ensure that no applications get missing.

This, he said, will facilitate recruitment and placement of staff at the various health facilities.

“There was a big embargo because of our International Monetary Fund (IMF) engagement such that government could not recruit,” Mr. Agyeman Manu.

“These days when you come to the Ministries, you won’t see anyone picketing because they are all on the field working…and to facilitate our recruiting faster, the Ministry has launched an electronic platform for that as well as a placement of staff at health facilities,” he added.
