The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) has campaigned against the decision of John Mahama over the legalization of Okada business when voted in power.

According to the Union, the dangers and risks posed by Okada business cannot be undermined in any way. They stated that the Negatives outweigh the positive reasons hence should not be legalized.

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union, Robert Sarbah has shared his concerns over the legalization of the Okada business which he says will increase fatalities on the road.

GPRTU is not in support of the legalization of the okada business,” he told Accra-based Citi FM.

“The importance of the role that it plays in ensuring that it transports a passenger from one point to the other is not enough. The danger it presents far outweighs what it has to offer.

“If the Ghana Medical Association should say they are against this legalization, then we should know that it is something we should kick against.”
