The 63rd GRAMMY Awards Nominations has proven to be a hot topic all week long, with artists and fans voicing their opinions on what they think the Recording Academy got wrong with the biggest one been the controversy behind singer The Weeknd not getting a single nomination.

Well, another thing that has gotten most fans and executives upset is why the late rapper Pop Smoke didn’t get more than one nomination. The rapper was only nominated for the Best Rap Performance category with ‘Dior’ which made people very disappointed that the Academy choose not to recognize him in the Best Rap Album category, among others.
Steven Victor, the head of Victor Victor Worldwide, Pop’s former label in an interview expressed his feelings in what he sees as ‘snub’ by the Academy, he said;
I think the Grammys is crap, bro. No disrespect, but who is D Smoke? (Shading D Smoke)
This is an artist, I’m not saying he started a genre, because he didn’t start drill music, but [Pop] brought drill music to the forefront and made it mainstream.
He had a huge impact. Forget about whether he passed away, his impact was felt way before that. He was going to be a superstar.”
He also wondered why the late rapper was not nominated in categories like Best Rap Album and Best New Artist;
How does he not get nominated for Album of the Year or Rap Album of the Year or Best New Artist? This is his only chance to get nominated for these awards,” elaborated Victor. “So to me, the Grammys is crap. I don’t know who’s making these decisions. He should’ve been nominated for ‘Dior’ in more than one category, he should’ve been nominated for Best New Artist, he should’ve been nominated for Album of the Year, and he should’ve been nominated for Rap Album of the Year. He should’ve swept the whole thing. It doesn’t make any sense.”
He also revealed although he thinks the late rapper was cheated, his family is really grateful for the one nomination he received.
