Suspected hoodlums who attacked a divisional police station in Adani, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State have killed three police officers in the early hours of Wednesday, April 21.

According to the residents of the community, the attack on the police station started at about 2:30am and lasted for over an hour. About six police officers sustained injuries

The Spokesperson of the state police command, Daniel Ndukwe confirmed the attack saying:

“Yes, there is a report of an attack on Adani Divisional Police station this early morning. However, the details of the incident are still sketchy.”

In recent developments, two officers of the Police suffered gunshot wounds as an attack was launched on Mbieri divisional police headquarters on Wednesday night, April 7.

Orlando Ikeokwu confirmed the attack to newsmen. According to the spokesperson of the state police command, the armed men attacked the police headquarters at about 10 pm however they met the full resistance of the immediate police force. Regrettably, two officers sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

There has been several attacks on Police stations. An attack on Monday, April 5 at the state headquarters by unidentified gunmen helped over 1800 inmates to break free.

Initially, six inmates voluntarily returned after they escaped the correction facility in Owerri, Imo State on Monday, April 5. The Nigerian correctional center disclosed that during the attack 35 others refused to flee from custody.

On Wednesday, after another attack, 80 new inmates who escaped have returned to the facility. This comes after the Federal Minister of Interior Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola promised that the Federal government will grant any returnee inmate amnesty.
