Angry youths torched the home of Sokoto State’s commissioner for security and career service, Garba Moyi.

Youths were enraged by his absence, according to the Premium Times, while homicides and kidnappings continued in his hamlet.

According to eyewitnesses, the enraged youngsters vandalized the village chief’s residence as well. When the incident occurred, the commissioner was reportedly in the state capital.

Abubakar Isa, a Sokoto local, stated in an interview that the youths were enraged by the commissioner and other politicians.

Isa said; 

“Some of them even believe that the commissioner has abandoned his own people. The attacks are becoming rampant these days, despite the efforts they said they are making to address it. There is no day that a person is not kidnapped or killed in Isa or Sabon Birni.

“They went to the residence of the commissioner and set it on fire before proceeding to the residence of the district head and smashed the windscreens of his vehicles.

“They smashed some vehicle at the palace of the district head but no one was wounded.”

Sanusi Abubakar, the state’s police spokeswoman, confirmed that the commissioner’s home had been set on fire. Abubakar further stated that other people had been arrested in connection with the incident.
